SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday said a female suspect has died following an officer-involved shooting in Santa Ana.
Santa Ana police Cmdr. Eric Paulson says the shooting happened shortly before 8 a.m. in an alleyway in the 800 block of South Townsend Street after two patrolling officers confronted the woman.
“When they confronted the woman an officer-involved shooting occurred,” Paulson said.
The woman was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead at 8:55 a.m.
The Coroner has not officially confirmed the identity of the deceased, but the woman’s family spoke out to KCAL9’s Brittney Hopper and confirmed the dead woman is their relative, Jessica Gonzalez.
A makeshift memorial went up in the city of Orange where 44-year-old Jennifer Solario was shot and killed Thursday.
Gonzalez was a suspect last week in Solario’s murder, they were partners for 11 years.
