Santa Ana Film Fiesta Day 7

Friday night’s showing of the documentary “A Crushing Love” was held at the Breath of Fire Latina Theater on 3rd & Broadway streets. Director Sylvia Morales documents how some Mexican-American women activists including Dolores Huerta, Alicia Escalante, Cherrie Moraga, and Betita Martínez managed to balance motherhood with political activism.

The festival resumes on Sunday, September 12 at Calacas on 4th street with a screening of short films at 3 pm and a feature, Enamorada, at 4 pm. A documentary on Méndez vs Westminster will follow on Monday at 7:00 pm, on what will be one of the most significant days of the festival. Pre-screening festivities will take place at 5:00 pm at the Orange Public Library, followed by a procession to the Orange Circle and to Chapman University where the movie will be shown.
